for about a week now whenever i set up shop and leave the pc unattended i always find the game has crashed when i return (crit error).
when i'm at the pc it never crashes, but instead i get disconnected all the time.
any idea/solution before i go into frenzy (even though i'm not destro :P) and trash my pc?

For what i remember, Sina and someone else had (and Sina is still having) that issue. Unluckily i don't know well how to help you, maybe u may ask for support to NCsoft.
I also think that you'll have more useful answers from other clanmates.
I have a similar problem when i teleport after having played for a while, i always get disconnected. I changed my ISP recently, but i think that i may compensate this with a better setup of my PC memories. I read that u have a ery good system instead, so the problem is in relationship between your ISP and the troubleful NCSoft EU one.

it's weird cause this only started after last server maintenance. didn't have any problems before
i also noticed that the disconnect thing is acting like some sort of idle timer. if i'm active, i won't get disconnected, just if i don't do anything for a few mins.
but i'm rly more concerned about the crits while i'm away, cause that disables my adena earning possibilities :/

hmmm thats kinda strange! your problems sounds like mine! but I have that problem in generaly. not just in lineage 2. (btw. at my "second" home)
If I don't do anything for 1-2 mins I get disconnected in lineage, icq, msn, skype... it also seams like a big lag if I click somewhere in lineage after doing nothing for 1 min. If I wait longer -> d/c. =/

I am guessing you are using pppoe. It tends to disconnect you if you dont have internet traffic for a specific period of time.

what is pppoe?

what is pppoe?
PPPoE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point-to-Point_Protocol_over_Ethernet)

yea, but even if the pppoe connection is set to disconnect when idle, the fact that l2 is running shouldn't let it enter idle state, cause it's always at least receiving data (when u sit and do nothing that is)
still, my problem isn't related to that in any way as i'm not using pppoe and i only get l2 related issues.

how can I configure the pppoe that way that it don't disconnect me anymore? ;_;

go to control panel -> network connections, right click the connection u use connect to the internet, chose settings/setup/configure and look through the tabs where u see smth like "idle time before disconnect" or "diconnect if idle for..." then disable that checkbox.
sry, i don't know the exact names u get for stuff in xp, i'm on vista for ~1 year now, but you should be able to find it from what i just told you.

I would be supprised if it was a pppoe error since L2 is constantly sending packets back and forth and I would think that it would keep your connection active because of that.
<---- warning.. not a pppoe expert ------>

that's what i actually said before, but i know that if u don't do anything in game it doesn't send absolutely onthing, just receives packets to update the world around you. so that fact *might* be screwing up pppoe, although it shouldn't.
anyway, if u don't pay by time connected, there's nothing to lose in switching off the disconnect on idle option.

If your using a router you should have a option to "keep alive" some Routers also have a option to refresh the connection, that refresh log out the connction and relog on the selected time.
Uga

that refresh option ur talking about isn't so good, cause it will disconnect all your apps when it does the refresh
