Well, seems the cloud is above or in close vincinity of Holland which made it an "interesting" day at work for me today...
Our companies biggest customer at amsterdam airport is KLM Cityhopper (fully owned by KLM). When I arrived at work this morning all their aircraft at the airport standing outside were fully covered and not only normal covers like engines and probes for calculating airspeed and altitude, but every single hole was taped off. We even weren't allowed to enter the airplanes to work on it cause they were afraid the ashes would drop down!
Meaning. We had a workday with only doing some jobs we don't have time for on normal workdays like cleaning the work cars. Some peope were called yesterday to ask if they wanted a day off today.
Personally I received a phonecall 2 hours ago to ask if I wanted standby duty tomorrow and sunday instead of normal early shifts. So I can stay home this weekend, but have to be ready to go to work in case needed.
As long as I work as airplane technician I never have experienced something like this before. It's very unussuall to work on a big international airport and not seeing any of the airplanes move![]()
